Alexander J. Sievers (Zandy), Project Manager, certifications and training include RESNET Home Energy Rater, NorthWest Energy Star Homes Verifier, and Passive House Consultant in training – email@example.com
Zandy began working in the building industry 20 years ago as a while finishing his undergraduate degree from the University of Montana. After working in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Zandy was hired in 2006 as a Structural Draftsman for Eclipse Engineering, Inc. In 2008 his involvement in green building led him to become an accredited NAHB Green Building Verifier. After completing his Home Energy Rater (HERS) and Energy Star Homes Verifier training his interests in ecology and building science led him to SBS. Since working for SBS he has been noted by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) as one of the top 15 most active verifiers in the country and has assisted the NAHB research center in developing the scoring tool for the ANSI approved ICC 700-2008 National Green Building Standard. In 2010 Zandy was appointed to the Missoula City Greenhouse Gas & Energy Conservation Team as the building sector representative, helping lead the City in conservation measures. Zandy is working towards the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) photovoltaic installer certification and currently assists with design and management of SBS solar energy jobs. Zandy is also studying to be a consultant for the most stringent energy standard in the world, Passivhaus or Passive House. Developed in Germany to describe a home that conditions itself, buildings certified to the Passive House Institute standard use approximately a tenth of the energy of code built homes on conditioning. At home he and his wife Prairie have been supporting the local food movement by starting a community supported agriculture micro farm, Soul City CSA, selling their heirloom produce to friends, relatives, and local restaurants. Their native plant landscaping was also featured in the Missoulian and their chicken coop (with a living roof) took the “most sustainable” award from Missoula Urban Demonstration Project’s first annual Tour de Coop.
